Through out my career as a DJ for the last 20 years the most important part of it was music knowledge. Now let me explain why, it's important to be able to play the right kind of music at the right venue.  You can't play rocking EDM at a restaurant when people are eat or vice versa. Junodownload -  https://www.junodownload.com/ 4. Bandcamp -  https://bandcamp.com/   (Which I'm using mostly to find music not release on the above sites) Which will set you apart from other DJs. and many more, you should really consider buying music as it helps the artist who produce them. From these sites you can learn about different artist and their style of music (which I will touch on in my next post. Keep an open mind and listen to all types of music cause you may never know when you are going to need to

Today marks a special day for the Roland 808, you may ask what is a Roland 808?  Well  The   Roland TR-808 Rhythm Composer , commonly known as the   808 , is a   drum machine   manufactured by the   Roland Corporation   between 1980 and 1983. It was one of the first drum machines to allow users to   program rhythms   instead of using preset patterns. Unlike its nearest competitor at the time, the more expensive   Linn LM-1 , the 808 generates sounds using   analog synthesis   rather than playing   samples . Launched when  electronic music  had yet to become mainstream, the 808 received mixed reviews for its unrealistic drum sounds and was a commercial failure. After building approximately 12,000 units, Roland discontinued the 808 after its  semiconductors  became impossible to restock. It was succeeded by the  TR-909  in 1983. I am born and bred in Singapore with more than 15 years of experience in DJing. I found salvation in music in my late teens and dived deep into it as I saw how powerful a DJ can be, manipulating the movements on the dancefloor. Having had the privilege to dj at various popular establishments such as Zouk, Madam Wong, SOS, Siam Supperclub, Taboo, Stereolab, St James Power Station, Tanjong Beach Club and Ku De Ta, it has enabled me to deepen my knowledge in different genres of music ranging from the 70s to pop music and now with a main focus in house and techno. Along the way, I made many friends who became an essential part of my foray into the Singapore music industry. Unfortunately with the current pandemic situation, it has put many of them out of jobs. Thus some of them ventured into music production while some moved on to do online streaming.
